Connect to Google Search Console
Before we dive into the brand content checklist for wedding pros, the very first step you have to take is connecting your website to Google. Do you want to get found on search by your ideal clients? Your site absolutely needs to be connected to Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console. And trust me, it’s a lot easier than it seems! As a side note, if you are still connected to Google Universal Analytics, you will need to migrate to Google Analytics 4. It’s an easy process, that can be done by logging into your current Google Universal Analytics account.
Action Item, How to set up Google Search Console!
Sign into your Google account (if you do not currently have one, you will need to create one)
Navigate to Google Search Console
Enter your website’s domain
Verify ownership of your domain through a DNS record with your domain host (Google will walk you through this step by step)
Await verification; this can take up to 72 hours depending on your provider
Done!
Take a Look at Your SEO!
Once your setup on Google Search Console is complete, it’s time to dig into that treasure trove of information! Want to get away from paid listings on big publications that result in spam inquiries? You need to know your website stats. If you haven’t looked at them in a while, don’t let digging into your stats feel all-consuming or scary. You just want a starting point in order to drive your brand content.

In Google Search Console find the top queries driving your clicks and impressions.
Do these queries drive traffic to old or outdated content?

How To Create Targeted Content
Step three of the brand content checklist for wedding pros involves creating targeted content for your ideal clients.
Targeted content for wedding pros usually boils down to two components.
Trying to rank for a specific wedding venue.
Or, trying to rank for a specific location.
Action Item!
Create a list of the venues/locations you’d like to rank for
Begin your keyword research to determine the following (you’ll need an SEO tool for this)
The number of user searches per month
The volume of keyword competition
Turn that list into workable keywords that can be used to create targeted content to attract your ideal clients
Create Content For Your Ideal Client
Step four! Now that you have your list of targeted keywords, it’s time to put them to work! You’ll need to take action by creating high-quality content utilizing those keywords, to attract your ideal client.

Your content should:
Capture your brand voice
Serve up high-quality information
Showcase your expertise
Highlight your services
Provide an answer
Guide your audience into taking the next step with your business
Is it time to Outsource Your Brand Content?
That all depends! Wedding pros are usually solopreneurs who go it alone. Or, they have a small but mighty team centered at the heart of their business. So deciding how to spend your time becomes a valuable concept. Do you have the time to commit to learning and implementing SEO, along with writing content? Is it something you will truly enjoy spending your time on? Or, do you need what little time you have in order to focus on your clients?
Some business owners like to have their hands in every aspect of their business, while others prefer to outsource certain tasks. Regardless of which category you fall into, there is no wrong answer! The only right answer is the one that works best for you & your business.
If the idea of learning SEO, or turning a blinking cursor into high-quality on-brand content seems like adding another task to a never-ending to-do list, give yourself permission to outsource! There are plenty of highly skilled, capable SEO specialists and content pros who can turn your business into a referral machine. I personally love Nicole at Lattes for Lunch.
